Wigan Warriors recently hosted the latest RFL Touch Festival at Robin Park Arena with 7 teams involved in the day.

Wigan, Yorkshire Thorns, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Warrington Knights and Salford Red Devils were all in attendance, giving Clubs from the RFL and England Touch Association a chance to get involved in a bumper day of Touch.

A Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Development squad took part, with an age range of 15-68, showing just how inclusive the Touch game is.

Speaking on the day, Kevin Hattersley, Wigan Touch Coach said: “It was a fantastic event with a great level of touch played across several Clubs, it was well organised at an outstanding venue.”

RFL Social and Inclusion Manager, Anthony Atherton, added: “Saturday was our biggest Touch RL festival to date. It takes us another step forward in the Foundation Touch Series and our Social RL plans for 2022.

“It’s great to see the relationships growing between Wigan Warriors and their Touch partners. It’s a definite blueprint we’ll look to replicate in other areas. To have Leeds, Salford, Warrington and hosts Wigan all providing a non-contact playing offer for both men and women is great. It is something i’d encourage all community clubs to have a look into and help to get more people playing our great game!”

In partnership with Wigan Council, Wigan Warriors touch sessions are available for over 18s on a Wednesday at Newbridge High School, Platt Bridge 7:30-9pm and Friday at Robin Park Arena 6-7:30pm. For more information click HERE.
