INCLUSIVE RUGBY LEAGUE TRAINING AND COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES.

Wigan Warriors have some great opportunities for members of the Community who have physical disabilities to take part in games and training for Rugby League. Our Physical Disability Rugby League has been established over six years and is based at the Robin Park Arena.

The PDRL team are an extension of our offering with the Cherry & Whites alongside our other teams including First Team, Reserves, Women, Wheelchair, Academy, Women’s Academy, Scholarship, LDRL and College teams.

What is PDRL?

Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) is a full contact version of the game adapted for participants with a physical disability who want to access a running version of Rugby League.

Wigan Warriors have a Physical Disability Rugby League team representing the Club, playing in a league against other sides throughout the Country. Our PDRL team play in their own league, where they will play against some of the other top clubs.

Each club hosts their own festival where a number of fixtures will be played on that day which go towards the league table. This comes down to the end of the season where a finals day is hosted for all clubs, where those who finish higher in the league hold an advantage over the other teams.

Who qualifies to play PDRL?

Anyone with a physical disability with include Impaired muscle power, Ataxia, Athetosis, Leg length difference, Hypertonia, Impaired passive range of motion, Limb deficiency/loss and Short stature.

Interested in taking part in a training session or joining the team?

If you are interested in joining our Warriors PDRL team come down to one of our free training sessions which takes place on Friday evenings (6-7:30pm) at Robin Park Arena. Our coaches will guide you through the session, as well as being available to answer any queries you may have.
