Kruise Leeming said it was ‘good to get back out there’ as he made a try-scoring return from an ankle injury as Wigan beat Sheffield Eagles to book their spot in the Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals.
The Warriors hooker suffered an ankle injury in Wigan’s Betfred World Club Challenge win over Penrith four weeks ago and made his return to action against the Eagles at the DW Stadium on Friday night: “It’s not the best watching, as a player you always want to be out there playing.
“You’d be naïve to think you can get through a career without a few niggles and injuries so to have a couple of weeks out and then get back out there with the boys was good.”
On his recovery, he added: “I didn’t want to play a game then be back in the physio room so the medical team have been great, my recovery has been fantastic so it’s just about playing now.”
Leeming scored one of eight Wigan tries as the Warriors saw off a determined Championship outfit in Sheffield Eagles. Looking ahead to the Quarter-Final draw, which takes place on Monday, he said: “Whoever we get in the next round will be a good game, there’s some good teams left in the Challenge Cup now so we look forward to the next round but next week is a huge game for us.”
Next up for Wigan is a mouth-watering Good Friday tie against St Helens. Ahead of a potential first experience in the game, Leeming summarised: “I’ve watched a lot of them, they’re good games to watch and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
