Match Preview: Salford (A)

In association with Davanti Tyres, here is everything you need to know ahead of Thursday’s Betfred Super League Round 5 clash against Salford Red Devils.

The Warriors face the Red Devils at the Salford Community Stadium where Matt Peet’s side will be aiming to continue their perfect start to the season.

Squad News

Peet has made two changes to the 21-player squad he named for Wigan’s win over London Broncos last time out, as Liam Byrne and Liam Marshall return in place of Jacob Douglas and Jack Farrimond.

Wigan squad for Salford:

Opposition

Salford will be without former Warriors Cade Cust (failed HIA), Brad Singleton and Chris Hankinson who all miss out after picking up knocks in their Round 4 win at St Helens, however, Amir Bourouh and Joe Shorrocks have been included in Paul Rowley’s squad for the fixture.

The hosts announced the signing of Gil Dudson on a season-long loan from Warrington Wolves on Wednesday morning, with the forward available for selection against the Warriors.

Coaches Quotes

Matt Peet spoke to the press at Robin Park Arena on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the clash against the Red Devils.

Peet said: “For as long as I’ve been in this role some of our most intense games have been against Salford, so we’re under no illusions about the kind of challenge that we have.

“From me and the club, there’s a massive amount of respect for what Paul Rowley does with his team – they play attractive rugby, but they’re also always hard-working and connected.”
