Matt Peet said it’s ‘about doing the basics much better’ as his team look to bounce back against Hull KR in Round 21 of Betfred Super League.

Reflecting on last week’s loss, Peet said: “I think it’s very simple, we were out enthused and we were second best from minute one. There’s no sugar coating it, they outplayed us.

“It’s about doing the basics much better, keeping hold of the ball, making tackles – nothing complex. It just highlighted that the team that does the basics well and who compete the hardest from minute one will come out on top.”

Looking at their opposition, Hull KR, he said: “I think they’ve shown since Danny [McGuire] took over there that the things they have brought to performances in energy and enthusiasm. In some ways you could say it’s a similar challenge with a team full of athletic ability and a powerful backline who will come and challenge you in key departments if you’re in any way off in the energy battle.

“I think Ryan Hall and Shaun Kenny-Dowall on that left edge are two experienced players who have got speed and power, they get them rolling forward and they’re such threats.”

Peet is looking forward to a string of home games to finish the season: “It is something that we’ve spoken about, the fact we have a few home games stacked up and that’s one of the reasons it was disappointing last week. With only a few away games left we wanted to do ourselves justice but on the flipside of that we have five home games, so it would be great if we could feed off the effort and energy that our home fans have been bringing.”

Finally, the Head Coach gave an insight to his team selection this week: “We’re going to freshen things up a little bit and look to give some players an opportunity. Without going into too much detail there’ll be a little bit of opportunity given to players who have been working hard in the background.

“We also get Patrick Mago back on board after illness last week, if anything we’re pretty healthy.”
