McDonnell to leave Wigan

Wigan Warriors confirm that James McDonnell will leave the Club at the end of the 2022 season.

The 22-year-old back rower will join Leeds Rhinos on a permanent deal.

McDonnell progressed through the Wigan Academy, made his debut in 2020 and has made four first team appearances overall. This year, he has primarily played his rugby for Leigh Centurions in the Betfred Championship.

Warriors Head Coach, Matt Peet, said: “On behalf of all the players and staff we would like to wish James all the best for the future. He is a really popular lad, a player and a person we are very proud of.”
