Inner Wheel backs State of Mind

A Wigan Warriors fan recently presented sports mental health charity State of Mind with a cheque on the DW Stadium pitch after undertaking a number of sponsored walks.

Bee Hinchcliffe is the Club President of Inner Wheel Holmfirth, an International Women’s Organisation, which has clubs in over 100 countries with over 100,000 members and was founded almost 100 years ago in Manchester.

Bee selected State of Mind sports charity to support in 2021/22 due to the popularity of Rugby League in the North of the UK and something which is also very close to Bee’s heart.

State of Mind is a mental health charity founded by ex-Rugby League player and former Warrior, Danny Sculthorpe. Sculthorpe started the charity following the death of former Warrior, Terry Newton, who is also Bee’s all-time favourite player.

The challenge saw 21 members ranging from their mid-60s to early 90s undertake a number of sponsored walks covering the mileage from the George Hotel in Holmfirth to all of the Rugby League clubs on the ‘M62 Corridor’ – a total of just over 400 miles.

Six club members visited the DW Stadium and Robin Park Arena on completion of their challenge in September, and Bee presented the cheque to the charity at half time of the Betfred Super League Round 25 game against Catalans Dragons, having raised a total of £1,630 for charity.
