Wigan Warriors Physical Disability team returned to training last Friday after a lengthy lay-off due to the suspension of all community and club activity in March.

The team were back at Robin Park Arena and they will continue to train every Friday night as they prepare for the 2021 season.

PDRL Head Coach, Scott Burns, expressed his delight of being able to return, as the Club follow Covid-19 guidelines to ensure a safe return.

Burns said: “It’s fantastic to be back training again and seeing all the lads back together. It’s been a tough time for everyone involved, but we have all kept in contact via phone and Zoom chats and sessions.

“Having received the current guidelines from the Club and the RFL, we have put everything in place to guarantee a safe return for the lads. Training wise, they have hit the ground running. They are looking sharp.”

Warriors Physical Disability player, Ben Seward, said: “It feels amazing to be able to return to training. After so many months away, it’s such a relief to be able to get back to what I love doing. Being around the place again is great and I can’t wait for the new season to start in 2021.”

On being named team captain for the 2021 season, Seward said: “It’s such a great honour to be named captain of Wigan Warriors PDRL. Scott and the coaches have shown their faith in me and it’s something I’m very proud of and intend to repay on the pitch.”

Burns and Seward, along with the team, also wanted to thank Adam Hills of PDRL England and Warrington Wolves for his generous donation toward the Physical Disability team, which is set to go a long way in helping them throughout the new season in 2021.
