Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Launch 8-week Touch Competition

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are pleased to launch an 8-week Touch Rugby League competition at Robin Park Arena.

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation welcome over 100+ participants each week to our FREE Community touch sessions and we are please to now be running and hosting the Spring Community Touch League, with an eight-week programme with teams competing in a mixed league every Friday night.

No experience is required to attend our sessions, or to get involved in the Spring League. In one of our most inclusive offerings, teams will be mixed in age, gender and ability over the eight-week programme.

Sessions for ages 14+ take place at St John Rigby College on Monday evenings 7pm-9pm and Robin Park Arena on Friday Evenings with two sessions – 5pm-6:15pm for U14s and 6:15-8pm for ages 14+. Team will then compete in the league on a Friday evening at Robin Park Arena. Please note that all sessions take place on 3G pitches, please wear appropriate footwear.

How to get involved

Our Community Touch Rugby sessions are FREE to attend. To take part in the Spring League there is an entry cost of £100 per team (Covers the full eight-weeks) or £10 per person if you are not in a pre-assembled team.

Kev Hattersley said: “With a hunger for competitive games amongst the Touch Rugby Community, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation have set up the Spring Community Touch mini league to encourage and engage Community Clubs. The eight-week league starts tonight with six of the four teams having come from the free Community Foundation programme.”

Rugby League Development manager, John Whalley added: “The Spring Community Touch League is a fantastic concept and is a very inclusive offering. Touch is one of the few sports where the whole family can get involved, regardless of gender, age or ability.

“Wigan Warriors Community Foundation look forward to running the eight-week programme and engaging with the wider Community.”
