  • FT | Wigan Warriors 64-6 Hull KR.

Jai Field said Wigan ‘reaped the rewards’ after a professional display saw them cement their second place spot in the league table with another two points.

Summarising after the full time hooter, Field said: “It was a bit high scoring but it wasn’t really the focus at all. It was a bit of a tricky game, not knowing what sort of team they were going to turn up with.

“The focus really was about our defence and turning up with a good attitude after leaking a couple of tries late last week but it is always enjoyable to score a few tries like that.”

Reflecting on the opposition, he said: “It was about focusing on ourselves. They still turned up with a good attitude and a lot of energy and they did scramble hard. I know we scored a lot of tries but they were still competing on every play, still chasing back and making it hard for us to get over the line.

“It was more about worrying about what we could control and playing what was in front of us.”

The Warriors full-back crossed for a hat-trick of tries in the space of six minutes at the DW Stadium: “I was just supporting up the middle there, our forwards laid a good platform and we got a lot of quick rucks so we were just reaping the rewards in the end.”

The Warriors now go in to a week off before facing Hull FC at the DW Stadium on Friday 18th August: “Next week is a chance to freshen up and doing the right things, spend some time with friends and family and get ourselves right for the back end of the year.”
