- Matt Peet looks ahead to Friday night’s Super League Round 21 clash against Hull KR.
- Peet: “The lads are in good shape – our 13 on 13 at the minute are two very good sides.”
- Wigan Warriors v Hull KR, DW Stadium, Friday 4 August, 8pm.
Matt Peet told the press that the Warriors are in ‘good shape’ ahead of Friday’s Super League clash against Hull KR at the DW Stadium.
Speaking on the fitness of the squad, Peet said: “There’s no new injuries. Ethan [Havard] and Sam Powell will come back into contention in the next week or two. Sam’s feeling a new lease of life and he’s looking forward to getting some rugby under his belt.
“The lads are in good shape – our 13 on 13 at the minute are two very good sides. Everyone’s eager to play and we need to build momentum as a group going into the end of the season.”
Reflecting on the Warriors’ victory over Leigh Leopards last time out, Peet said: “It had been a challenging week so to get the win and show that reaction was important. It was a performance I was really, really proud of.”
Looking ahead to Friday’s fixture with Hull KR, Peet said: “It’s a stand-alone fixture now which I won’t compare to any other games. We can’t concern ourselves too much on what team Hull KR will play – an important two points are at stake. This will bring a different challenge because we won’t know know the personnel, so we will just concentrate on ourselves.”
Speaking on the Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to Hull KR, Peet added: “Unfortunately we can’t get that one back, so we have to move forwards. The semi-final is out of our minds now, and we have our own goals that we are building towards for the back end of the season. The best way we can make ourselves feel better is by playing the best we can.”
