Warriors host Matrix in Octagon

Wigan Warriors recently delivered a unique dining experience for Johnson Health Tech key staff at Robin Park Arena.

Johnson Health Tech, owners of well-known fitness brand ‘Matrix’, held their MBO conference in the recently refurbished 1872 Lounge, before then enjoying a unique dining experience in the Warriors Matrix gym, inside the Club’s Octagon.

During the day, Johnson Health Tech Group enjoyed a tour of our Robin Park Arena site with Assistant Coach Sean O’Loughlin and Head of Performance Ian Bentley before having full use of the facilities for their monthly management meeting as well as an in-depth and open discussion with Chief Executive Kris Radlinski on continuous improvement planning, relating to both Rugby and business.

In the evening, the group were then welcomed back to Robin Park Arena for an intimate and unique dining experience which saw them enjoy a three-course meal seated inside the Octagon in the Matrix branded high performance gym – staff even had a special cocktail created just for the occasion by staff from Revolution Bars in Wigan!

As part of the event, guests were also treated to an insight on planning, measuring and adjusting in business and Sport day to day and for the future from Shaun Wane, Kris Radlinski, Martin Offiah and Matt Peet.

Speaking on the event, Shaun Wane said: “When I heard the event was being held in the Octagon, I couldn’t imagine it but I think it’s mind-blowing, I’m really impressed.”

Club Ambassador, Martin Offiah, also said: “The partnerships that the Warriors have are very important. We like to give something back – more than just the standard hospitality.

“It gives value to these organisations, brings them into the Wigan family and the cycle of how we do things and why we’ve been so successful for many years.”

Julian Taylor, Commercial Director of Johnson Health Tech added: “It’s a great opportunity for staff that we’ve got in the office – they hear about Wigan and often they don’t get to go out and see that.

“To bring our senior team and our management, heads of department to Wigan today and show them the facilities, meet the staff here and see how it works with our relationship is fantastic.

“I’ve been part of this partnership for six years and I’ve become a proper Wigan fan. I’ve brought my family to games and it’s far more than just a business partnership.”

Chief Executive, Kris Radlinski said: “Our relationship with Johnson Health Tech/Matrix is very important to us. Not only is the gym an integral part of our Performance programme, it is also a highlight of our High Performance Centre. It is the place that everyone wants to see because they have heard so much about it.

“We have worked so well with Julian [Taylor] for many years and when he asked about holding an event here, we thought long and hard about how we can do something different. I am very lucky to have the team of people that I work with at the Warriors, I come up with random ideas and between them, they make them happen – Stewart, Rebecca and Katie worked so hard to make the event a huge success.

“The reaction on our guests’ faces when they walked into the gym was priceless. Our partnership will continue to flourish and I can’t wait for what we come up with next.”
