Warriors Women’s winger Anna Davies says the Warriors are have ‘lots of potential’ after a positive season so far, as they head into Nines Finals day this weekend.

Reflecting on the season so far, Davies said: “Overall it’s really exciting. Coming into the season it was a bit of an unknown, we had lots of youngsters coming up from the Academy and I think it did take us a few games to start finding our feet and we’ve still got lots of room for development and improvements but we’re in a place where we’re confident we can compete.”

She added: “The exciting thing is that there are still things we can iron out. For us it’s been really positive, we’ve had just one loss so far but we’ve got to the Nines Finals which we didn’t last year, we’re in a Challenge Cup Semi Final so I think there’s a lot of potential in this squad this year.”

On the Nines Finals Day, she said: “I missed the qualifying round with Achilles tendinitis but as a back I love the nines format. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the day and I think nines offers more of an even playing field, it also bodes well for us as we have some quick players in the team so I think our chances look good ahead of this weekend.

“Though we missed out last year I actually went to watch it and it’s great that every match is showcased.”

Finally, Davies looked ahead to the Challenge Cup Semi Final against Leeds Rhinos following their Quarter Final win at the weekend: “I’m really excited. To be honest, I love the big games and I think the prize of getting to Wembley is massive for us! Hopefully there will be a good crowd as part of the double-header at Headingley which is another exciting step for us. All you need is that bit of belief, and we’ve definitely got that.”
