Wigan Warriors Reserves came from behind to blow Huddersfield away and leave the Giants scoreless in the second half.

Report

Wigan opened the scoring in the third minute as Tom Forber finally managed to break down the Giants defence after a heavy period on the hosts goal line, converted by Tyrer for an early 6-0 lead. Huddersfield responded soon after though, as a looping pass out to the wing saw Milthorpe crash over in the corner, converted by Rush to see the scores level after 8 minutes.

The Giants took the lead for the first time just a couple of minutes later, Milthorpe in again off the back of the scrum as Huddersfield created the overlap to see the winger overfed his second effort, this time the conversion was wide and it was 10-6.

Wigan got themselves back level in the 23rd minute, Max Wood put in some big yards to get the Warriors up to the goal line before the Warriors shifted the ball right and quick work from the hands allowed Adam Jones to ease over, with an unsuccessful conversion it was 10-10 at the half time break.

The Warriors started the second half equally well, taking advantage of an offside call against the Giants to see them 30m out, Logan Astley punted a grubber kick through to force a goal line drop out. From the drop out, Max Wood broke through the defensive line to fly through and score a fine solo effort to get Wigan back ahead, Tyrer converted from close range to see the scores to 16-10.

A kick to touch from Logan Astley put the Giants on the back foot as Wigan were on the attack again from close range. Abbas Miski was next to go over as he latched onto a pass on the right edge to get the ball down in the corner, the touchline conversion from Tyrer was good and Wigan had the 22-10 lead on he hour mark.

O’Keefe added to the lead in the 68th minute as he held on to a fine offload over the head to crash over, the conversion attempt was off target but Wigan were in full control at 26-10 with the final 10 minutes approaching.

Abbas Miski rounded off the afternoon with his second score of the afternoon, offering good support play to get the pass on the inside and race under the uprights, converted once more by Kieran Tyrer to complete the 32-10 win for the Warriors.
