Injury update

  • In partnership with Blindspot Global, Matt Peet provides an update on injuries in the squad.
  • Liam Marshall remains a doubt after leaving the field in the first half against Hull FC in Round 7.
  • Iain Thornley faces another short spell on the sidelines after leaving the field against Wakefield.

Matt Peet confirmed that Iain Thornley faces another spell on the sidelines but updates that Liam Marshall should soon be back in contention.

Speaking to Wigan TV about Iain Thornley, Peet said: “It’s not particularly serious but it will be a few weeks’ healing time. No surgery is needed on the shoulder,  it’s just a few weeks to recover – it’s some scar tissue from a previous injury.”

Liam Marshall also misses out on the squad for St Helens as Peet updated: “It won’t be this weekend for Liam but he should have a chance going into next week against Salford.”

Finally, Willie Isa was named in the 21-player squad to travel to St Helens after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in Round 7 against Hull FC: “Willie is a professional who always comes back that little bit quicker than you expect, he’s going to give himself the best possible chance to be in with a shot at the weekend. He looks after his body really well, which means a lot of the time he is fit and avoids injuries but when he does get those bangs, he gives himself every chance to recover well and hopefully he has a chance at the weekend.”
