Injury update

  • Updates on Bevan French, Iain Thornley and Kai Pearce-Paul.
  • Matt Peet provided the latest update in his weekly press conference on Tuesday.
  • Wigan Warriors v Hull FC, Thursday 31st March (8pm K.O.)

In partnership with Blindspot Global, we have the latest from Head Coach Matt Peet as he updates on injuries ahead of the Warriors round 7 fixture.

Matt Peet has named Bevan French and Iain Thornley in this week’s squad as both players become available following injuries. Speaking on their inclusion, Peet said: “Bevan will play. He’s an exciting and unpredictable player, he’s got talent and he can beat people in small spaces. We won’t be expecting too much from Bevan this week, we just want him to be back on the field, enjoying his game and to compete.

“We can’t wait to see Iain back out there, we signed him for a reason – he’s a big strong ball carrier. He’s applied himself really well, all through pre-season and during his injury, I can’t praise him enough – on and off he’s been exceptional.”

Though their return is a boost for Peet, the Head Coach did give an update on Kai Pearce-Paul who was forced off the field early against Salford Red Devils last Friday night: “It isn’t good – he knew straight away. The scans have confirmed that he’s torn a few ligaments in his adductor, which might require surgery but it might not – we’re just waiting on him seeing a specialist to get confirmation but we’re looking at months rather than weeks.

He added: “It’s unfortunate, he’s been flying and he’s a pleasure to work with. He’s held in high regard here but it presents an opportunity to someone else and fortunately it’s come at a time when some of our outside backs are returning.”

Matt Peet named his 21-player squad for Thursday’s fixture against Hull FC.
