Nsemba: Stuck to the structure

  • FT | Newcastle Thunder 12-42 Wigan Warriors.

Junior Nsemba put in a sterling performance as he featured in the Warriors win over Newcastle Thunder on Sunday.

“Yeah it was pretty tough,” he said, “the intensity was different to Academy level and I just put in 100% and did what I needed to do.

“I felt like I carried hard, hit hard, supported and did everything I could.”

The youngster highlighted Wigan’s structure as a key element to their success in the game: “The structure was all good, we hammered down the middle and got them on the outsides when we got the opportunity and needed to. We started off fast in that first five minutes and the intensity continued to raise, but we did well and scored those 42 points.

“Three or four players came on of my age, but we stuck to the structure and carried on to get the win.”

Having made his first senior appearance within the first team, Nsemba now has sights on working his way up in his Rugby career: “Yeah of course, I’m trying to get to the first team and show what I’m about but I’ve just got to try and prove a point. I’m going to try and get to the reserves level and have a shot at the first team if I can.”

You can see the Warriors in pre-season action again this weekend as they take on Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium for Stefan Ratchford’s testimonial game. Tickets are still available for the fixture and can be purchased HERE, the game will also be shown LIVE on Wigan TV.
