Forward Brad Singleton is already impressed with the Wigan squad’s efforts as he enters his first pre-season with the Warriors.

The 28-year-old is back at Robin Park Arena and working hard with the first team in preparation for the 2021 Betfred Super League season.

Speaking to Wigan TV, Singleton explained how he felt his teammates were performing in the early stages of pre-season training.

“It’s my 12th pre-season and the first day back I was really impressed with the standards that all of the lads are giving.”

After impressing in the latter stages of the 2020 season, having signed for Wigan in September, Singleton has earned the coveted number eight jersey for the upcoming campaign.  

On receiving the shirt, he said: “It was a bit of a surprise really. I’m really thankful they have faith in me to give me the eight shirt. I like to start games and I like to stay out there on the pitch.”

However, the powerful front rower is not taking his new shirt number as any indication of a starting role, knowing how much competition there is for starting places in the squad.

“This team is a conveyor belt of talent and tough blokes who are ready for a starting shirt.”

Outlining Wigan’s goals for the season, the Cumbrian added: “After going that far last year, we’d like to take that extra step. However, within that you’ve got to create a winning mentality by hitting the ground running and winning games.”
