Shane Eccles
Player Bio
Shane Eccles has been working within Wigan’s Scholarship and Academy system for the past eight years.
He joined Wigan in 2015 as Scholarship Head Coach and Community Foundation Development Officer. He was the Scholarship Head Coach until the end of 2018.
In 2017, Shane joined the Academy coaching staff as assistant to Darrell Goulding, where the Academy team won the 2017 and 2018 Grand Finals.
In 2019, he took over as Head coach of the Academy, leading the team to the 2019 Grand Final victory over St Helens and has also been part of both the England Academy coaching staff and Lancashire Academy Origin Head Coach.
In 2022, following the departure of Goulding, Shane took over the role of Head of Youth which sees him manage player progression and the pathway system for young players entering the Club at Scholarship level, through to the Academy and Reserves teams.
