Anna Davies had the dream start on England debut as she opened the scoring after 5 minutes. Davies received the ball on the wing before cutting back inside and muscling her way to the try line. Fellow debutant Isabel Rowe was on kicking duties but was unable to convert from close to the touchline.

England scored seven further tries in the game including a second from Anna Davies on the hour mark and the final try of the game on 70 minutes saw Isabel Rowe assist Emily Rudge. Isabel Rowe kicked five goals on the afternoon for a personal haul of 10-points on England debut.

France 8-40 England

Harry Smith, Brad O’Neill and Luke Thompson all started for Shaun Wane’s England side with Tyler Dupree on the interchange bench. On the opposite side, Tiaki Chan was also named on the interchange bench for France.

The appearance marked Brad O’Neill’s England debut, starting at hooker. Despite an early setback as Fouad Yaha crossed for an early try, converted by Arthur Mourgue, England responded with four tries in 11 minutes from Jack Welsby, Tom Johnstone and an Ash Handley to see them into a 8-18 lead at the break.

Four more tries followed in the second half, with Harry Smith was integral in the final try of the evening – as the hooter sounded coming up with a perfectly-timed chip kick which allowed Tom Johnstone to go in at the corner. Four conversion from the boot of Harry Smith also contributed to the 8-40 victory.
