Warriors Together: Week Three

  • Community Foundation return with week three of the ‘Warriors Together’ programme.
  • Community Foundation to deliver a four-session programme throughout Wigan and surrounding Communities from December to January.
  • Warriors Together launched on Friday 1 December.

Warriors Together aims to have an impact on all areas of the borough by working with schools and community groups in the most deprived and hard-to-reach areas of Wigan.

Taking place on Friday afternoons, Foundation staff and players are going out to deliver engaging sessions in person in high schools, primary schools and at Robin Park Arena. The delivery is also being extended to the Foundation’s community groups, such as Rugby Memories.

This week the Warriors were out and about in schools in Hindley and Hawkley, as well as assisting at The Brick with donations in preparation for the Christmas period.

Week 3 – Friday 15 December

  • Hindley Junior & Infant School
  • Hawkley Hall High School
  • The Brick

The first week of delivery saw Warriors first team players head out into the Community at Ashton-in-Makerfield and Golborne. Primary Schools were treated to fun-packed interactive assemblies, whilst the high schools took part in a practical session with Community Foundation staff and players.

Week two saw the Warriors go out and about in Standish, as well as welcoming groups to Robin Park Arena including the Wanderers U16’s girls from Australia. Some of the players made an extra special visit with the League Leaders’ Shield and Super League Trophy to Jack Fletcher who turned 100-years-old on 5 December.
