Four Warriors were in international action over the weekend as England Men and Women were victorious in a double-header at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium.

England Men 26-4 Tonga

Shaun Wane’s England side sealed a 3-0 series win over Tonga at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium, as Harry Smith produced another stand out performance which saw him presented the Nan Halafihi Medal after being named Player of the Series.

England scored tries through Ben Currie, Matty Ashton, Elliott Whitehead and Harry Newman, whose try was set up by a superb crossfield kick from Smith.

Smith took his series points total to 30 after kicking five goals in the victory, as Tyler Dupree came off the interchange bench to make his second international appearance.

England Women 60-0 Wales

Stuart Barrow’s England Women secured a huge 60-0 victory over Wales at the same venue earlier in the day, as England scored 11 tries in the win.

Vicky Molyneux, who prior to the clash announced her retirement from international rugby league, featured at second row, whilst Anna Davies was named as the 18th Player. Read more on Molyneux’s international retirement HERE.

Carys Marsh, who started in the halves for Wales, was on the receiving end of the 60-0 loss.

England Wheelchair 34-43 France

Despite a spirited second half fightback, which saw England work the points difference to nine after trailing 43-22, the reigning world champions were beaten by France at the First Direct Arena in a rematch of the World Cup final.

Yesterday’s clash, which was played in front of 2,311 spectators in Leeds, was the first of a two-match series between the sides with the second game to be held in Marseille on Saturday 25 November.
