The Lanks to perform before Hull FC game

  • North West band The Lanks to perform before Friday’s Super League clash against Hull FC.

Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce that indie rock band The Lanks will play a 35-minute gig before Wigan Warriors take on Hull FC at the DW Stadium tomorrow night.

The North West indie rock band, whose name comes from the Lancastrian Way in which group members had to drive across to meet, will perform before the game from the North Stand.

The group, who originally began as an acoustic band with lead singer Liam Scholes and guitarist Josh Lloyd, now perform as a five-piece after being joined by guitarists Sam McKnight and Stuart Pickett, and drummer Shay Toole.

Having released their debut album ‘Bigger Man’ in April, the Lanks, who were formed around a year ago, have performed locally in Manchester and Liverpool, as well as featuring at DJ Clint Boon’s ‘Boon Army Live’ and North Fest 2023.

Supporters are encouraged to take to their seats at 7:10pm, when the group will begin to perform a variety of original songs, as well as some well-known songs from genre!

Speaking ahead of the game, Liam Scholes said: “We are absolutely buzzing for tomorrow night. We’re properly looking forward to entertaining the crowd before kick off, and more than anything we hope Wigan get another big win like they have been doing.

“Supporters can expect a good time tomorrow night, and we are looking forward to this gig as well as a few other exciting things which are already pencilled in for the future.”
