Abbas Miski reflected on his second half hat-trick as Wigan Warriors beat Leigh Leopards 44-18 at the DW Stadium.

Reflecting on the performance, Miski said: “It was a great performance. We were upset about what happened last weekend, as any team would be, so the lads were really eager to put in a good performance and knock off Leigh who are a very good team – we are really happy.

Miski scored three tries in 20 second half minutes to take his total to 13 in Super League this season, and speaking on his hat-trick, Miski added: “I was doing alright at the start of the year getting one a game, but then I went on a bit of a dry spell. I didn’t think about it too much about not even scoring in the first half, but it was nice to score three in the second half and I’m happy with that.”

Speaking on the mood in the dressing room at half time, Miski said: “The mood was mostly good. We knew we had a couple of errors, but we also defended really well with with a lot of effort and energy. We knew that we needed to keep building pressure while stopping those errors which I thought we did in the second half.”

Tyler Dupree scored a try on his Warriors debut after signing for the club on Wednesday, and speaking on his new teammate, Miski said: “We only had one session together and it wasn’t a very long one. For him to come in having not done many sessions with us and to put in that performance I thought was really good from him.

“Tyler’s carries were great, defensively he was really good, and he’s really happy in there that he got his try. He is going to be a big part of the team.

Looking forward, Miski said: “We were upset about last week but now our eyes are on putting ourselves in the best position in the competition come the end of the season. There are things to work on, which we spoke a little bit on at full time, but today was exactly what we wanted.”
