Matt Peet praised his Wigan side after a 44-18 victory over Leigh Leopards which takes the Warriors second in the Super League table.

Reflecting on the performance, Peet said: “I’m really happy. After a difficult week it was important we responded and I think the lads managed to channel their frustrations in the right way to get the result.”

Tyler Dupree marked his first Wigan appearance with a try, and speaking on the debutant, Peet said: “It was an ideal debut. He came on at an important time when the game was very much in the balance and he made that difference – that is why we signed him.

“We have some very athletic middles who do the job really well for the team, but Tyler is going to bring a bit more punch with the way he carries the ball. There will be things he has to learn and develop, but the most important thing is that he achieves what he is capable of over the next few years.”

Speaking on Abbas Miski’s hat-trick, Peet said: “They’re not only tries, they’re two great interceptions which show great defensive work. The other one was an excellent finish that I didn’t think he scored with the naked eye.”

Peet added: “Abbas is a very well rounded player. He makes strong yards, he scores tries and his passing and decision making is on point. He is an excellent player technically.”

Looking forward to the remainder of the season, Peet said: “We are sad about being out of the cup and we can’t shy away from it. However, it allows us to narrow our focus on being as strong as we can in the back end of the season and going as far as we can in the competition.”

The Warriors are back in action on Friday night at the DW Stadium against Hull KR. Supporters can purchase tickets from the DW Stadium Ticket Office, or online HERE.
