Bevan French says Wigan Warriors will take ‘learning curves’ from their 11-10 Challenge Cup Semi-Final defeat to Hull KR at Headingley Stadium.
Speaking post-match, French said: “It’s gut-wrenching. We started well and controlled the first half exactly how we wanted to so that we led at the break.
“Being down to 12-men in the semi-final, with that atmosphere and intensity, we put in an unbelievable effort. I couldn’t be anymore proud of the effort from the lads and how deep they dug.”
On Hull KR, French added: “I don’t want to take anything away from Hull KR. We knew they would have their time and moments in the game, and they stuck to their process for the whole 80 minutes to get what they wanted.”
On learning from the defeat, French said: “We probably didn’t manage the extra time how we would have liked, but that’s a learning curve. There have been a few tight games this season where we’ve been on the winning and losing side, so it’s important we learn from these games going into the rest of the year.”
The Warriors return to Super League action against Leigh Leopards at the DW Stadium on Saturday, and supporters can purchase their tickets from the DW Stadium Ticket Office, or online HERE.
