Wigan Warriors Prop Forward Harvie Hill says he needs to ‘keep working hard’ as he aims to build on his number of first team appearances.

Looking back on his Challenge Cup debut in the Warriors’ Quarter Final victory over Warrington Wolves, Hill said: “It was great to be involved. The crowd got behind us and you could tell by the scenes that the lads enjoyed it as well.”

After making his First Team debut towards the end of last season, Hill, who was named Wigan Warriors Academy Player of the Year in 2022, was awarded the number 26 squad number for the 2023 campaign.

Speaking on the moment, Hill said: “I was excited as there were a couple of us who came through together that were given a squad number. We all know we still have a lot more work to do to get in the team so that’s the thinking.”

Hill spent time on loan at London Broncos and Toulouse Olympique earlier this year, and on the experience he said: “They were massive as they helped me adapt. There’s a big difference when you go from academy rugby to the Championship, so it was good getting used to playing in a faster game and against bigger bodies.”

When asked on his personal aims for the rest of the season, Hill said: “The recent run has been massive for me. I’m still getting used to the pace of the game and the physicality with the bigger bodies, but everyone’s talking all the time which massively helps me get through games.

“Hopefully I can keep getting more game time and getting better, but I still have a long way to go so I need to keep working hard while learning my game.”
