Pre-match Quotes

Speaking to wiganwarriors.com ahead of the game, Women’s Captain Rachel Thompson said: “We’re lucky enough to have Carys (Marsh) who plays for Wales in our team and she knows the capabilities of a lot of that Cardiff team. By no means are we underestimating them at all, they’ve got some excellent players who we might not have come up against before but we’ve seen them play internationally. It’s going to be a really tough game, potentially our toughest game of the Group stages so we aren’t going into it lightly, we know we’re going to have to be at our best to beat them.”

She added: “We can’t go into any of these games thinking that we’re going to win. Featherstone showed us last year that they won’t go down without a fight, they knocked us out of the Cup competition at the group stages and we don’t want to do that again, we don’t want to be in that position.

“We’ve got to take every game as important as the other because Wembley is on the cards for one of the biggest prizes in Rugby League and to walk out at Wembley would be massive for our team and our Club. We’ve got to give it our all for the whole of the Challenge Cup Group Stages and hopefully we can get ourselves a semi-final spot.”
