Toby King said Wigan want to ‘keep the fans cheering’ after scoring a late winner for the Warriors, marking his first at the DW Stadium since joining the Club.

“It was an electric ending there,” he said, “I think the fans deserved that last 10 minutes. We were clunky throughout the game in attack so just buzzing to get the two points and give that to the fans.”

On the opposition, he said: “Salford have got a real attacking threat so you’ve got to be switched on defensively and they got us a few times so credit to them. We’ve got to be a lot better but excited to get the win.”

Talking through his winning try, he added: “I can’t take the credit for that, of course it was good to score it but Jai Field did amazing there to put it on a plate for me.

“I’m not really used to playing on the wing to be honest but I ended up there at the end – it’s exciting, good to learn new positions so it was good but can’t really take much credit for the try.”

The effort not only sealed the win for Wigan, but also marked King’s first at home for the Warriors: “To score it and just look up at the crowd and see how crazy they were going, it was exciting so hopefully we can carry on, put on some good performances and keep them cheering us on.”

Finally, King gave us his thoughts on the turning point in the game: “Bevan scored that try but I think we had quite a lot of sets on their line, we just weren’t getting that final pass. It was frustrating but the fact that we stuck at it, kept getting through our sets was good. We have some players that switch it on in those moments.”

Next up for Wigan at home, it’s the Good Friday derby as we take on local rivals St Helens. Get your tickets HERE for the highly anticipated clash at the DW Stadium.
