Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are delighted to announce a partnership with Greenmount Projects Ltd.
Greenmount Projects Ltd are the founding partner for the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Girl’s Pathway Programme. The pathway will consist of a U16s scholarship and a U19s academy. The academy will support girls with their final stages of development before progressing into the Wigan Warriors Women’s Super League team. This pathway provides a strong link to the professional setup and supports the development of local community clubs.
In 2022, Wigan Warriors Women’s team provided nine debuts to girls who have progressed through the Warriors academy. The academy team also went unbeaten as they won three out of three games in 2022, beating Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and St Helens in the academy league.
Rugby League Development Manager, John Whalley, said “We aim to help more girls in Wigan, and the surrounding area, to get involved in playing rugby league and want to help every player reach their full potential. With support from Greenmount Projects Ltd we will offer delivery to align with the boy’s pathway and embed a pathway for girls that is focussed on homegrown talent.”
The two-year deal will see the Greenmount Projects Ltd logo feature on the front of the girl’s academy team playing shirts and the women’s shirt sleeves in 2023 and 2024.

This is on the back of the fantastic work the club has done to raise the profile of the Women’s game and of what is a very exciting time in the history of Wigan Warriors.”
