Assistant Facility and Events Manager

Wigan Warriors are looking for an experienced Assistant Facility and Events Manager to join our team. The role combines a balance of office related administrative tasks alongside event and operational delivery. Wigan Warriors seek individuals who are also team players, good communicators and enjoy working in a fast-moving environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • To lead and support colleagues to deliver high standards in customer service.
  • To ensure a sound approach is followed in the management of health and safety.
  • Support the delivery and coordination of events at Robin Park Arena
  • Ensure facility presentation standards are met, monitored, and maintained.
  • Ensure the building and grounds operate safely and effectively.
  • Be responsible for the general supervision and day to day control of all staff directly involved in the cleaning, preparation, checklists and building security.
  • Ensure the attainment of approved standards of facilities and preparation of same, prior to use by various user groups.
  • To assist in the organisation of events, courses and services to promote the profile and income of Robin Park Arena.
  • To ensure the processes and systems for Risk and Health and Safety management are adhered to.
  • Support the organisation of staff rotas, shifts and holiday arrangements.
  • Support the recruitment, development and training of operational staff, planning work schedules determining priorities and allocating duties.
  • Ensure effective communication is in place with staff, to allow staff the ability to perform their duties to the require standard, and to ensure they feel part of the overall company.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • People person who can lead others.
  • Work experience in a sports and leisure or similar environment.
  • Supervisory and event experience.
  • Ability to work shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • IT competent.

Salary range: £19,000 to £23,000 per annum depending on experience.

Receptionist (casual weekend / evenings)

Wigan Warriors are looking for an experienced receptionists who are interested in supporting the main reception team on a casual basis during evenings and weekends. The hours will vary for this role and will be discussed individually with interested applicants.

Main Responsibilities

  • To act as the first point of contact for all customers and visitors at Robin Park Arena.
  • Ensure customers are welcomed to the Arena in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner.
  • To be aware of and comply to all policies and procedures in relation to customer service.
  • Responsibility for the administration of over the counter / phone bookings and financial transactions.
  • Responsibility for the accurate administration of Wigan Warriors memberships scheme.
  • To account for all small stock items for sale and/or hire, including stock checks.
  • To assist the head receptionist in contacting customers or potential customers to confirm bookings or courses.
  • To keep up to date records and undertake extra administrative duties as determined by any of the management team.
  • To attend any training and courses deemed necessary.
  • To report operational problems and/or difficulties to the head receptionist or duty manager.
  • To deal with customer complaints and feedback and refer matters to the facility manager or duty manager as appropriate.

Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Receptionist or in a related field is desirable.
  • Consistent, professional dress code and manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Experience with administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks as required.

Hours / Pay

Hourly in line with national minimum wage.

Casual Café and Bar Staff

Wigan Warriors a looking for casual bar and café staff to support on matchdays and at other events that are held at Robin Park Arena.

Main Duties

  • To act as a point of contact for customers and visitors at Robin Park Arena.
  • Preparing and serving drinks in the Wigan Warriors Fanzone, Kingfisher Lounge and outdoor Café area.
  • Using the EPOS software on an iPad (all payments are card only).
  • To assist in stock control.
  • To assist in keeping the working area clean and tidy at all times.
  • To assist in the set up and take down of equipment.
  • To assist in checking customers age verification where appropriate.
  • Deal with customer queries as and when they arise.
  • Ad-hoc duties as directed by the Facility and Events Manager.

Relevant Experience

  • Previous café / bar experience.
  • Familiar with health and safety/food standard requirements.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to follow a process and maintain high levels of service delivery under pressure.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of food and beverages.
  • Well-developed customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle customer complaints.
  • Strong customer service commitment.
  • Calm under pressure.

Hours / Pay

Hourly in line with national minimum wage.
