Coach quotes

Speaking to wiganwarriors.com ahead of the game, Head Coach Kris Ratcliffe said: “Huddersfield have shown improvement week on week and they will be desperate to get their first win this week. They have some quality players with Bethan Oates in the England squad and four others in the England Knights squad. In our last match they showed what they can do in the second half when it started to click for them.

“We need to put pressure on them by showing how dangerous we can be in attack. We have threats all across the park, we just need to be smart in our delivery to create the time and space they need.”

A win for Wigan would secure a play-off spot: “Everyone is aware that if we win this game a semi final awaits. We also know that our performances need to be better to compete with the top three, so we will continue to focus on our performance and the bits we need to be better at.”

On squad selection, he added: “Squad wise this week we are starting to finally get the competition for places we have missed all season through injury, Georgia Wilson will return which somewhat offsets the loss of Vicky Molyneux who is unavailable for the next two weeks. We will have another debut this week in Eva Hunter, who has trained with us all season and made a great impression. She has been playing very well for her community club Orrell St James, deserves her opportunity and will no doubt be one for the future of the club.”
