Ethan Havard said the Wigan camp is ‘still positive’ despite a defeat in Round 18 at Magic Weekend.

“Things are still positive,” he said, “it’s not nice to lose in a derby like that but it’s still positive and we’re looking forward to getting back out there this week.”

On the season so far, he added: “I think it’s been good, we’re in a good spot, particularly having some silverware in the cabinet – that’s a good thing but we’re taking it week-by-week leading into the business end of the season now. We’re just looking to get better each week.

Havard was named in the Super League team of the work after another big performance: “Personally I’m enjoying it, I’m really enjoying my rugby this year and as far as development I just look to get better each week. I’m training hard and we’ve got good Coaching staff here who are helping me improve. I’m feeling good at the minute, feeling confident.”

On this week’s opposition Hull FC, Havard said: “The last game we played at home [against Hull] was one of the toughest games this season. They’ve got big physical bodies and they have some good ball players on the back of that as well, we’ve seen some good stuff from them and we’re expecting a big performance from them this week so we have to be on.”

He added: “The 80-minute performance is what we’re always looking for and it’s something that’s tough to get. It’s a good challenge this week against Hull FC, especially being back at home so we’ll be looking forward to it.”

Finally, Havard gave mention to the Wigan Warriors fans: “The fans are always behind us and it does give you that boost when times are tough in the game.

“It’s amazing, the home fans give us such good support and it gives us a real lift. We want to make the DW Stadium a fortress, so we’re looking forward to getting back out there in front of them.”
