Loan and Dual reg report

  • Seven Warriors were in loan and dual registration action over the weekend.
  • Sam Halsall and Tom Forber crossed for tries for Newcastle Thunder.
  • Ben O’Keefe was also on the scoresheet again for Rochdale Hornets.

Seven Warriors were in action across the weekend for Newcastle Thunder, Workington Town, Leigh Centurions and Rochdale Hornets.

Sam Halsall and Umyla Hanley started at right and left centre respectively for Newcastle Thunder on Friday night, with Tom Forber on the interchange bench. Sam Halsall crossed just before half time after linking up nicely with former Warriors Josh Woods, helping thunder into a 24-10 lead at the break.

In a dominant second half Tom Forber crossed in the 68th from close range to score his first for Thunder as the Newcastle outfit took a 53-10 win with some of the Warriors first team watching on at Kingston Park.

Sunday saw Workington Town face Leigh Centurions. Jack Bibby was the starting prop for Workington, with Toby Brannan on the interchange bench whilst James McDonnell started at second row for the Centurions. It was Leigh who kept up their relentless form in the Championship as they took a 66-0 win away from home.

Meanwhile, Ben O’Keefe was in fine form once more for League 1 side Rochdale Hornets after starting at left centre. Following up his hat-trick of tries on loan last week, this week he crossed for a try and slotted over 6 conversions.

The hornets had found themselves 24-6 down at the half time break, but 44-unanswered points in the second half saw them take the win as O’Keefe took over kicking duties, before crossing for a try late on in the game as Rochdale came out 50-24 winners over Oldham Roughyeds.
