The Warriors put on an eight try display as they continued their winning run in the Betfred Super League with a 46-22 victory over Wakefield Trinity.

Speaking after the full time whistle, Harry Smith said: “I thought the first half was really good, we started well, stuck it to them and we were clinical. Our attack shape was one of the best it’s been this year and we were precise in how quick we played but we let them back into the game and made it into a scratchy game in the second half, it wasn’t our best but it’s something we’ll learn from and look to build on going into next week’s game.”

He added: “We spoke earlier in the week about how this is a tough place to come and the crowd can really get on top of you once Wakefield get a bit of momentum, they did that a few times in the game but I thought we stayed together well and came through those patches, that’s what got us the win in the end.”

A change in weather before kick off took them by surprise, Smith admits as the wind played it’s part on Sunday afternoon: “I didn’t really see it coming with the wind, in the warm-up it was quite calm but come to kick off the ball was swirling everywhere. We mentioned in the week about our kicking and switching it onto them, luckily the ball went out for a forty twenty and it went on from there.”

Questioned on how they can take the result into the next game, Smith said: “It’s just a bit of composure when we make errors or when stuff is going against us, to get back to our game plan quicker. There’s definitely a lot to learn from, especially the second half but we’ll take it into the Saints game and the weeks to come.”
