Thornley crossed for a first-half double as the Warriors eased to victory over Warrington Wolves in Round 11 of Betfred Super League.

Speaking after the match, he said: “It’s good to finally tick some boxes off, getting back on the field with the boys last week and getting another 80-minutes under my belt and trying to add to the team.”

Reflecting on the performance, Thornley added: “We showed that we can score points but we need to hold them out, especially next week against a team like St Helens that are so good at attacking. You only need to look at the league table and the points difference to see how good they are so we need to limit them as much as we can.”

Peet made some changes at half time, as Thornley insists the Warriors are prepared for any adversity along the way: “How we have trained all through pre-season and going into the season, we played players in different positions so if anything crops up in games we can fill those spots and it’s not unusual so I don’t think it phased us in any way. Bevan went to full back and you can see the damage he did there. It’s probably good that we have those options in the game.”

The Warriors Centre finalised by mentioning the great Wigan following on Friday night: “It definitely helps, especially when you’re away at Warrington because they’ve got a good fan base. They are that 18th man, so the fact they made so much noise and got behind us was great.”
