Liam Farrell was happy to have reached 300 games for the Warriors, despite the result not going Wigan’s way last weekend.

“I’m trying not to let that take the shine of my 300th game, I recognise that it’s a really good achievement to play 300 games for one Club so I’m very happy with that,” he said.

“It probably didn’t go the way I wanted it to, a disappointing result after a very good start to the year. There’s a few errors to fix up, a lot of things we caused ourselves it wasn’t all down to Catalans being the better team, though they were on the day. We’re capable of beating them but we gave away too many errors and penalties.”

Reflecting on the defeat, Farrell said: “There’s no secret recipe to trying to win out there. It’s just go there, do the tough stuff and get the job done. We’ve been out there before and put good performances, but this time we didn’t. There’s a lot of things to fix up, it’s a tough place to go, ever since Catalans joined the competition it’s been hard coming up against them at their home ground, it’s always a tough game.

“They’re showing that they’re really resilient at the moment. A team who can play at home and probably one of the top teams in the comp at the moment, behind Saints they’re he benchmark. We have to improve to try and get up to their standards.”

Having reached a huge milestone for the Club, Farrell was adamant that he isn’t done yet: “You’d probably think someone would be ready for retiring after 300 games, but I’m going to keep playing whilst I’m healthy, I’m really enjoying my rugby, I enjoyed the pre-season just gone as much as I have any before so I hope I’ve still got quite a few things in me to win. I love playing in Grand Finals, Challenge Cups and those kind of games so hopefully I can be involved in the next few years when we try and win something.”

The Warriors second rower mentioned that the team are keen to get back on the field to make amends for their recent performance: “Noone likes playing in short turnarounds usually but after a defeat, I think the lads would’ve played the day after and not complained about their bodies being sore. We’re really looking forward to being back at home, there’s things to fix up but Cas’ are in a different situation to us, they’ve had a difficult start to the year and struggling to find some form. I would imagine they’ll come here with a lot of energy and try and put some points on the board, we’ve leaked a few in the last few weeks’ so there’s things we can change there. We know we’ve got a challenge ahead of us but if we can go back to the way we were playing in the first four weeks of the season then we’ve got a really good shot.”

He added: “We know Thursday night isn’t the greatest of days to come down, but the more fans that can come out, it makes a massive difference in the way we play. If people can get out and get down on Thursday night it would be great. We’re looking to bounce back from the Catalans game and get a good win.”
