Miski: Room for improvement

Abbas Miski spoke to Wigan TV following his debut for the Club against Toulouse Olympique on Saturday evening.

On the trip to France, Miski said: “It’s been really exciting, first time in France, in camp with the boys it’s been really fun. All focus was on this game and it was probably a bit harder than we thought it was going to be, not underestimating the opposition but it was a fight right until the end and we got away with the win so I’m happy with that.”

Ahead of his debut, Miski was surprised as his sister came to wish him well at the team hotel before the game: “That was a massive surprise, I had no idea. I haven’t seen any family for quite a while since being in the UK so that was a pleasant surprise, I’m glad we got the win and I can spend a couple of days with her so it’s great.”

It was an arm wrestle for the Warriors on Saturday night as Toulouse piled on the pressure, before the Warriors staged a late comeback to take the two points and remain unbeaten. Reflecting on the game, Miski said: “We were just talking about it in the changing room, individually myself, individually as players and as a team we want to be better skill wise.  I think the mentality to stick in the game and win it at a crucial moment is important. There will be more games like that, it’s not always going to be plain sailing so we’re happy to have got the win.”

He added: “I don’t think you can play any game and come out and say we’re exactly where we want to be. There’s always room for improvement, some games more than others, but this is one of those games where it’s a good learning curve, a little bit of a kick up the bum, but exciting going into a hard game next week against Catalans.”
