Development Days success

Over 250 local Community players attended our February half term sessions across two days at Robin Park arena.

Ranging from U12s to U16’s, male and female, the sessions were designed to give all community players a free open access session with Wigan Warriors development coaches and insight of what it’s like to be a Wigan Warrior.

The sessions included athletic development testing stations that are used by all the performance teams, speed and strength stations was a real highlight of the days. All players were guided through a technical contact session in the popular wrestle area.

Once all testing had been completed the participants was challenged to a skill and decision-making session outside on the 3G.

Danny Fullerton Wigan Warriors Rugby development manager said: “Our February half term sessions have been exceptionally high quality and giving all participants an insight of professional training. All participants had exclusive access to the state of the art gym and facilities at Robin Park arena. Each half term we will continue with the testing stations and profiling of each players athletic development, core skills and Community club games throughout 2022.”

John Whalley, Women & Girl’s development officer added: “I was very impressed with the number of girls present at our first development day of the year, with access to all our facilities here at Robin Park arena. The girls participated in speed, strength and core rugby skills. This is a fantastic start to the year and I look forward to seeing everyone develop as the year goes on.”
