Sam Halsall, Matty Nicholson and Alex Sutton were all in action for Newcastle Thunder on Saturday afternoon as the North East outfit came away with a 40-24 win.

Sam Halsall started at Centre, with Matty Nicholson in the back row and Alex Sutton available off the bench.

At 12-0 down, Nicholson opened Thunder’s account, breaking the line to crash over and get Newcastle off the mark. Sam Halsall grabbed two quick-fire tries in the first half, before registering his hat-trick in the 48th minute, helping Thunder to a 40-24 win over Whitehaven.
