Offload returns for 2022

Offload, an acclaimed mental fitness programme that has already transformed the lives of thousands of men across the North West, returns to Wigan for 2022!

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Rugby League Cares are pleased to offer the offload programme, which helps men to focus on mental fitness. Each week they will explore different topics and learn coping strategies and is presented by ex-professional rugby league players such as Wigan born Paul Wood, Bob Beswick and Lee Jewitt.

Offload sessions – referred to as ‘fixtures’ – will take place in Wigan every Monday at 6:30pm at Robin Park Arena, starting on Monday 31st January 2022.

Men’s Weight management officer Patrick Mcloughlin said  “ Our first Offload programme was a huge success, As a club we have a responsibility to raise awareness and tackle the important issues in society, such as mental health, equality, diversity and inclusion. Offload is a free 10-fixture programme, designed to prevent mental health problems support men to look after their own mindsets and recognise when they or others require further support.”

Men account for 76% of suicides in the UK, the biggest cause of death for men under 50 and a leading cause of death in young men. As a sport, we recognise that a joined-up, fresh approach to mens mental health is required – which is why we are keen for as many people as possible to try our Offload sessions. 

Each of the 10 fixtures hands power back to men, giving them evidence-based tools and techniques to practice and embed within their daily lives.

Fixtures topics include; 5 ways to wellbeing, mindfulness, stress management, emotional resilience, problem solving, goal setting, challenging negative thinking, resilience, anger management, work life balance and others.
