Magic fundraising weekend raises £6K

For the annual Super League Magic Weekend back in September, Wigan Warriors staff, players and an amazing team of supporters embarked on a fundraising mission to raise money for the Community Foundation.

The mission saw teams complete the Wigan 10K, Manchester 100K bike ride as well as the Rugby League Memories group completing a 1K walk at Robin Park Arena.

Wigan 10K

The team who completed the Wigan 10K raised a huge £3,654 by completing the run across Wigan town. A special congratulations goes to Wigan fan Peter Elliott who alone raised £1,309.60 of the total figure, a fine achievement after recently taking up running as a hobby.

Manchester 100K bike ride

Starting and finishing in Wythenshawe Park, the Manchester 100km is set through flat and gently rolling country lanes on a sweep through the beautiful Cheshire landscape. A small team of cyclists from the Warriors completed the mammoth bike ride raising £1,081 of which Paul Holden raised £765.

Rugby Memories 1K

A group from the Warriors’ Rugby Memories group took on the challenge of a 1K walk around Robin Park Arena, their efforts also raised a great amount of £1,309.

Through all the efforts of our staff, players and loyal supporters we have raised a fantastic £6,044 for the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.
