Liam Farrell spoke to Wigan TV ahead of Thursday’s Play-Off Eliminator game against Leeds Rhinos at the DW Stadium and he is hoping for Wigan’s defensive momentum to continue.

“Seeing some of them young lads come in and perform like they did it inspired me a lot,” said Farrell who was rested for Friday’s victory over Catalans Dragons. “Catalans came over with a full strength squad and they’ll have wanted to put in a good performance going into a week off and then Play-Offs the week after, so for us to put on a performance like we did I’m really pleased and it puts us in a confident position going into this week.”

The Warriors go in to the Eliminator game having finished fourth and play fifth placed Leeds for a Semi Final spot: “Obviously it’s do or die but the way we’ve been playing over the last month, nothing will change in terms of what we’re doing physically with the ball. We’ve just got to make sure we’re implementing what we’ve been doing on the training field and what we’ve been doing over the last month because it’s been working for us and just make sure we put teams into a grind and see if they can stay with us.”

On the fixture, Farrell said: “It’s an iconic fixture and every time we’ve played Leeds at Headingley it’s been a massive game, massive atmosphere so I’m expecting the same at the DW Stadium. It’s looking like it’s going to be a big game, Leeds are looking at full strength at the moment, our squad is pretty good at the moment, it’s making sure it’s going to be a great game.”
