500 kids at free RL session

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation strengthened their link with local junior clubs ahead of last Friday’s game against St Helens.

Over 500 youngsters from 18 different junior clubs took part in a free open access training session at Robin Park Arena as they all got a glimpse of what playing for a club like Wigan Warriors feels like.

The community event featured a number of activities, including fun games, a kicking competition and the Davanti Tyre Passing Challenge.

The action-packed session was a huge success as the youngsters were put through their paces by Warriors Foundation coaches, Academy players and Wigan Warriors Education students.

After the session, the juniors took their place in the sold out South Stand to watch their heroes in action.

Danny Fullerton Wigan Warriors rugby development manager was delighted with how many juniors attended the session.

He said: “It’s been a while since the Community Foundation was able to offer pre-game activity and to re-engage with all Wigan Warriors community club ambassadors in such fashion is credit to all the clubs and juniors that attended the session.

“Wigan Warriors Community Foundation pride themselves on supporting all juniors and community clubs with their own development and this event is the first of many more fun opportunities for all juniors.”

“Wigan Warriors would like to thank all the players, coaches, volunteers and parents for attending the session.”
