Wigan to host Touch Rugby festival

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation will play host to multiple Betfred Super League clubs this Saturday in a touch rugby festival.

All participating clubs will be entering a men’s and women’s team to compete in a round robin format festival. The festival will be held at St Cuthberts, Montrose Avenue, with a start time of 10am.

Wigan Warriors – in partnership with Wigan Council run a free touch rugby programme for people with a BMI over 25 with a focus to help our fans lead a more positive, healthier lifestyle through free nutritional advice and positive lifestyle changes.

Touch rugby sessions are held at Robin Park Arena on Fridays 6-7:30pm, with the Club working with Wigan Touch Warriors to help participants develop their skills and understanding of the game.

Anthony Atherton from the RFL said: “We’re grateful to Wigan and the other foundations for supporting this initiative. Touch will play a significant part in our growth strategy along with our other social offers. We’re working to get more people active and embrace the sport of rugby league in the many guises it is now delivered.”
