Report

Wigan opened the scoring in the 13th minute, when Jake Bibby crossed in the corner. A deft grubber from Jackson Hastings was skilfully placed in behind the Wakefield line for Bibby to touch down.

The wide man got over for another three minutes before the break, diving in the corner once more. Hastings again provided the assist, this time a well executed cut-out ball, taking two Wakefield defenders out of the line to free up the space in the corner for Bibby.

Hastings then got on the score sheet, expertly slotting a drop-goal on the stroke of half time to put Wigan ahead by nine.

Bibby completed his hat-trick shortly after half time in a carbon copy move of his second. Hastings again fed a delicious cut-out ball to find the winger who scored easily.

Just three minutes later Wigan grabbed another through forward Joe Shorrocks. His first for the club was a good one, latching onto a bobbling Liam Farrell grubber, controlling it well and touching down under the sticks.

Liam Marshall got in on the act in the 57th when he too latched onto a Hastings ball to score in the corner.

Wakefield got their first points of the evening in the 70th minute, when James Batchelor powered over.

Trinity grabbed another in the  when Mason Lino found Jay Pitts who crashed over.
