Coach quotes

Speaking with wiganwarriors.com, Women’s head coach, Kris Ratcliffe is calling for composure as his team look for a fifth win of the season: “Training this week has really focused on playing smarter and really hammering the things we didn’t do well against Leeds. The score didn’t reflect our game last week, our effort couldn’t be faulted but we just did too much defending in the end. It has been beneficial to analyse that and look at how we can be better.

“York this week gives us the earliest opportunity to rectify that. We know what York bring and I feel we are better placed to deal with that this week than in our last meeting. The girls were frustrated with the result the last time we played and felt we should’ve won. It’s a huge game on Monday and we have spoken in depth about its importance, both teams fighting for top 4 play-offs and a win will go a long way in securing that.

“I will just be asking the girls to go out and play smart, and with composure. We will need to be Warriors in defence and continue to turn up for each other.

“It will certainly be a great game to watch live on Twitch. We have a couple of injuries to check on with Georgia Wilson getting close to a return. The extra day’s recovery is a welcome bonus, hopefully their day jobs will take it easy on them in the day and we will be ready to put in a big performance at Odsal.”
