Report

The first half began steadily, with both teams completing sets without looking overly threatening towards each other’s try lines.

In fact the first score of the half didn’t come until the 32’d minute, when Mitch Clark crossed for his second in two games for the Warriors. The powerful prop forward muscled his way over carrying four Huddersfield players with him.

Adrian Lam’s side were also the first to get the scoreboard moving in the second half through Harry Smith. After being awarded a penalty in the 47th minute following a high tackle, the half back opted to kick, converting successfully.

Huddersfield got their first points of the game on the hour mark when Will Pryce crossed to touch down.

Wigan extended their lead in the 70th minute when Liam Farrell put on a four-pointer. A line break from Oliver Gildart created space for the second row, with Gildart found with ease to go over.

The Giants struck back in the 74th, with Nathan Peteru going over between the sticks. Oliver Russell added the extras to take Wigan’s lead to just two points.

But Lam’s side saw the game out to clinch a hard-fought victory away from home.
