Magic fundraising weekend
The annual Super League Magic Weekend on Sunday 5th September will also be a Magic Fundraising Weekend for the Community Foundation.
Staff, ex-players, and a team of amazing supporters will embark on a fundraising mission to raise vital funds for the Community Foundation.
Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are entering teams into the Wigan 10K and the Manchester 100, and they want you to join them!
When you sign up to the Wigan 10K with the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation you will receive:
- Free race entry
- A free running T-Shirt
- Free access to an eight-week training programme
All that we ask is that you raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship to support the Community Foundation.
All funds raised will directly support our work in the community; including Rugby League development for all, health and wellbeing programmes for schools and community groups, and programmes to improve the career prospects of young people and adults.
A united effort across the Community Foundation looks set to join in, whatever age or ability. For example, the Rugby Memories group members will complete a 1K walk around the running track at Robin Park on Friday 3rd September, which will prove a great way for them to get involved with the fundraising weekend.
Claire Taylor, health and wellbeing manager, said: “We hope this weekend of fundraising will raise vital funds to continue our work in the community. The last year has been extremely difficult for everyone, and the community foundation has worked really hard to try to keep people connected and supported.
“During lockdowns our staff have delivered food parcels and delivered a full timetable of activities online, from rugby coaching and school PE sessions to yoga and fitness sessions. This period has made us realise just how valued our support is and we are determined to do our very best to reach out to as many people as possible.
“We also want to raise awareness of our charity status and to let people know that we are the official charity of Wigan Warriors.
