On this day – 15th February

Celebrate two great moments from Wigan’s history that both took place on 15th February.

First up we jump back 26 years to 1995, where the Cherry and Whites, wearing blue and white, faced off against old rivals St Helens at Knowsley Road.

The game in question was a firecracker of a Challenge Cup fourth round replay, seeing Wigan advance to the next stage with a convincing 40-24 victory.

Packed full of star names including Martin Offiah, Shaun Edwards, Jason Robinson and Frano Botica, the Wigan side would go on to win the final of the competition against Leeds later that year. Check out the highlights below.

But this wasn’t the only memorable day in Wigan history to occur on 15th February.

Following his takeover in 2007, current owner and chairman Ian Lenagan experienced his first home game at the helm of this great club in 2008.

The game in question was a 28-16 victory over Castleford Tigers at the JJB Stadium. A pair of tries for Tommy Leuluai and six goals from Pat Richards secured the result.
